IMMERSIO 2026 - New Media Art Festival
IMMERSIO 2026: PASAR — New Media Art Festival
IMMERSIO 2026 is a biennial new media art festival by Filamen, bringing together artists, collectives, students and creative technologists from Malaysia and across Asia to explore the intersections of art, technology and contemporary culture. First established in 2017, IMMERSIO has grown into a platform for experimentation, collaboration and exchange within the region’s new media art community.
For its seventh edition, IMMERSIO 2026 takes on the theme PASAR, looking at the Southeast Asian market as more than just a place of buying and selling. The pasar is a space of exchange — of goods, conversations, cultures, memories, languages and everyday encounters. Through the festival, artists are invited to revisit these familiar experiences and interpret them through contemporary creative practices.
Featuring more than 100 artists and creative technologists and over 70 artworks, IMMERSIO 2026 presents digital and interactive installations, projection mapping, moving images, sculpture, audiovisual works and performances. From everyday objects and disappearing market cultures to personal memories and digital economies, each work offers a different way of looking at what PASAR can mean today.
The festival takes place across multiple locations in Kuala Lumpur, with the main exhibition at GMBB alongside programmes at Muzium Telekom, REXKL and OMBAK KLCC. By expanding into different spaces, IMMERSIO creates a wider ecosystem where established and emerging artists can experiment, share ideas and connect with different communities and audiences.
At its heart, IMMERSIO 2026 is a contemporary marketplace of ideas — a place to wander, discover, interact and exchange. Just like a pasar, you might come looking for one thing and leave having discovered something completely unexpected.
