About

Kongsi Petak presents ‘The Quiet is So Noisy’, the latest full-length solo contemporary dance performance by award winning Malaysian dance choreographer and artist, Gabriel Wong.

This contemporary dance piece delves into the paradox of silence, revealing its dual nature as both a sanctuary of peace and a prison of oppression. It explores how silence can evoke serenity while amplifying the deafening inner noise of overthinking, loneliness, and despair. Through layered choreography, evocative storytelling, and a dynamic interplay of sound and silence, the piece takes the audience on a visceral journey through the mental, emotional, and physical landscapes of solitude and introspection.

At its core, this work sheds light on the often-invisible battles of depression and suicidal ideation, portraying them with raw honesty while maintaining a sense of hope. It confronts the darkness without romanticizing it, offering a path toward connection and healing.
