This workshop is an immersive exploration of posture and movement habits, enhancing bodily awareness and deepening mind-body connections through the transformative lens of the Alexander Technique.

Participants will engage in dynamic activities designed for learning and enjoyment: lying down relaxation techniques, mind-body explorations, body mapping exercises and yoga stretches. Furthermore, participants will delve into Alexander Technique fundamentals, touching on awareness, inhibition, direction and how these can be integrated into daily activities and artistic practice.

Guided by experienced practitioners, participants will develop a deep understanding of their physical and mental habits, equipping themselves with tools to release tension and foster healthier movement patterns.


Morning Session: 9:00am- 12.30pm
1) Exploring mind-body awareness with the 2 basic principles of the Alexander Technique (Awareness, Primary Control).
2) Body mapping – Understanding the anatomy and movement of your spine, what is "good posture".
3) Relaxation exercises including constructive rest and breathing explorations.
4) Application of Alexander Technique into daily activities (sitting, standing, activity of your choice).

Afternoon Session: 2:00pm – 5.30pm
1) Exploring mind-body awareness with 2 principles of the Alexander Technique (Inhibition, Direction).
2) Body mapping – Upper and lower extremities.
3) Alexander Yoga poses and stretches.
4) Application of Alexander Technique into daily activities (walking, using electronic devices, activity of your choice).

Instructor Bio

Goh Shian Li
Founder of Sage Chiropractic & Alexander Technique Centre, Goh Shian Li completed a three-year training programme at the School of FM Alexander Studies in Melbourne. She has conducted workshops and talks on the Alexander Technique for voice and performance, postural awareness, pain and stress management, collaborating with Penang Philharmonic Orchestra, UCSI University, Dell Penang and more.

Lee Aik Hooi
Pianist and Alexander Technique teacher Lee Aik Hooi blends artistry with holistic mind-body practices to inspire creativity and wellness in musicians. Having trained in New York, she is committed to helping musicians prevent injuries and play with greater ease, fluidity and expression. With ten years of experience, she has conducted workshops at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Srinakharinwirot University and more.
