Join us for an unforgettable evening of chamber music as international multi-instrumentalist John Chitambo (Saxophone) and acclaimed classical pianist Sim Cheng Chen take the stage in a captivating cross-cultural collaboration.
Bringing together a wealth of global experience, Zambian-born John Chitambo currently serving as the Head of Preparatory Music at Marlborough College Malaysia, steps into the spotlight as a saxophonist. John is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, author, and arts advocate with advanced degrees spanning from European University Cyprus, University of Pretoria (South Africa), Evelyn Hone College (Zambia ), alongside certifications from Trinity College London, UK. While his musical expertise covers the piano, saxophone and violin, on this evening he brings his signature expressive artistry to the saxophone, an instrument he plays with a captivating, singing emotional depth. John’s performance promises a masterclass in emotional depth and compelling musical storytelling.
Partnering with him is Malaysian-Chinese pianist Sim Cheng Chen, a distinguished collaborative artist and educator who recently returned to his hometown after nine years of intensive training and performance in the United Kingdom. A graduate of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under the tutelage of Alasdair Beatson, Margaret Fingerhut, and Anthony Hewitt, Chen has graced legendary stages, including London’s Royal Albert Hall (Elgar Room) and Birmingham’s Bradshaw Hall. Currently serving as Staff Pianist at the British International School, (Marlborough College Malaysia) Chen brings his profound sensitivity and technical mastery to this exquisite partnership.
