Freeing the Voice for Acting with Robin Khor

In this two days’ intensive workshop, we will explore the late Kristin Linklater’s ‘Freeing the Natural Voice’ methodology. Through guided physical and vocal exploration, participants will work to release habitual tension that restricts breath, resonance, and vocal freedom, building an integrated relationship between the body and mind. Participants will apply their learnings by performing a monologue at the end of the course. The course will be conducted in English, though participants are welcome to perform texts in any language.
During the additional tutoring hours, Robin will also be available to share insights on training and working within the UK theatre industry.

Who can join?
Actor/Performer and Theatre maker of any level who are interested to free and strengthen their voice.
No prior performance experience is required.

What you will learn :
- to release habitual tension in the body to access greater breath support
- to free your vocal channels for stronger resonances
- to strengthen the articulator for clarity in speaking
- to build artistic connection with dramatic speeches

Day 1
Morning: Physical and Vocal preparation
Afternoon: Dramatic text active analysis
Evening: Small group tutorial (optional)

Day 2
Morning: Physical and Vocal preparation (cont’d)
Afternoon: Performing the text

About the Facilitator

Robin Khor is a multilingual actor, theatre-maker, and facilitator based in London, originally from Malaysia. Trained in the BA Acting course at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, where he is currently a visiting lecturer. His practice centres on expanding diversity and internationalism on stage—across language, form, and perspective—with a particular focus on East and Southeast Asian representation. His work actively challenges monocultural tendencies in mainstream theatre and contributes to ongoing conversations around decolonisation in performance.

Robin has worked with internationally acclaimed companies including Complicité, Told by an Idiot, Royal Court Theatre, Grid Iron, Lakeside Arts, fix+foxy, KL Shakespeare Player and,  klpac! His international practice has taken him to the UK, France, Norway, Denmark, India, China, and Singapore as a performer, director and workshop facilitator.

Robin looks forward to sharing the tools he has learned and continually re-invented over the years.
