Apart from their performance of Jikey as part of YSDAF 2025 Urban Tour, My Jikey Penang will also be conducting a workshop where participants can try their hand at the art of mask-making using simple materials. Perfect for arts and craft lovers who like to get their hands dirty and pick up new skills.

About the Artiste
My Jikey Penang
Preserving Tradition, Inspiring Innovation
My Jikey Penang is a traditional Jikey performance group under the umbrella of MyPenang Creative, supported by Persatuan Kreater. Since its formation in 2017, the group has been dedicated to reviving and modernizing the art of Jikey while staying rooted in its cultural heritage.
The group made its debut performance at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and has since grown into a platform for creative experimentation and cultural collaboration. In 2022, My Jikey Penang expanded its scope through workshops aimed at refining performance techniques, refreshing traditional elements, and encouraging participation from multi-ethnic artists.
Supported by a matching grant from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC), My Jikey Penang presented updated performances and participated in the Northern Traditional Theatre Festival @ Georgetown. The group was also featured in a promotional segment aired by RTM Kuala Lumpur.
In addition, My Jikey Penang has performed outdoors for the Arts in The Park program and conducted a special workshop on creating the traditional Awang* mask — an iconic character in Jikey — during the **International Museum Festivalheld in Penang.
My Jikey Penang continues to serve as a vibrant platform to celebrate, educate, and elevate the rich heritage of Jikey for contemporary audiences.
