Choon Yew began his musical journey at the age of 13 as a member of the Foon Yew High School Johor Bahru String Orchestra, where he later served as leader of viola group. During his university years, he also performed in concerts with the Taylor’s University Symphony Orchestra, further broadening his ensemble and orchestral experience.
Since 2014, he has been the violist of Dimento Quartet, actively performing in local chamber music and string concerts. In recent years, he has also appeared as a guest musician with the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra in Singapore, performing at Esplanade Concert hall, Victoria Concert Hall and the SOTA Concert Hall.
He is currently a viola instructor with the Foon Yew High School Johor Bahru Symphony Orchestra, where he works with students by sharing practical performance experience, ensemble skills, and musical knowledge.
