Coco Phua Siew Yong is a Malaysian conductor, violinist, music educator and arts producer based in Johor Bahru.
After completing her violin studies at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Nancy and the Conservatoire Grand Paris Sud in France, alongside Musicology and Performing Arts Management studies, she returned to Malaysia with a vision of strengthening the local classical music community through performance, education and artistic collaboration.
She is the founder of the Rhapsody Arts Association, founder and conductor of the Rhapsody Youth Ensemble (R.Y.E.), and General Instructor and Conductor of the Foon Yew High School Symphony Orchestra. She is also the co-founder of the Rhapsody Music Festival, which has brought musicians from Europe to Johor Bahru for concerts, masterclasses and cultural exchange.
Beyond conducting and performing, Coco actively develops projects that connect young musicians with meaningful performance opportunities, mentorship and community engagement. Her work focuses on nurturing not only skilled performers, but also thoughtful musicians who will contribute to the future of music and arts in Johor Bahru.
