Ethel Deidre is a dancer-choreographer from Sabah, Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur. Trained in traditional, classical Malaysian, and contemporary dance, her movement journey began with Hip Hop and evolved into a practice that blends tradition and modernity. Inspired by the fluidity, buoyancy, and rhythm of Borneo dance gestures, her choreography experiments with materials, visuals, and other symbolic elements to deepen meaning. Ethel’s work often explores introspective themes, personal experiences, and the thresholds of the body, creating dynamic, experimental performances that challenge conventional forms while maintaining a dialogue between cultural roots and contemporary expression.
