TYBE Final Act Festival
When journey starts at the close of the curtains
TYBE Final Act Festival is the definitive milestone for EJKLS Seni’s in-house mentoring programme for aspiring theatre writers and directors – the Young Blood Experiment (TYBE). More than “the end of a journey”, this theatre festival is a dedicated launchpad for new original works, unique social critique, and bold storytelling; 3 characteristics that often define the rawness of EJKLS Seni stage. After a year of intense mentoring, our 2025 cohort—Shi Hoong, Adelia Khalid, Yanu, Hanna Lee, and Yuthes Umadevi Navarathinam—will take over our humble blackbox in Wangsa Maju to premiere five full-feature plays. Marking the first-ever Final Act Festival for the programme, the festival will run from January 2026 to March 2026.
First started in 2023, the Young Blood Experiment (TYBE), aims to train and nurture new and aspiring writer-directors based in Kuala Lumpur for free – with the mission of enriching the local theatre ecosystem in Malaysia with new directing and writing talents. Under the tutelage of EJKLS Seni’s artistic director, Asyraf Syahir (Acap), the programme is a highly structured 3-semester learning programme that runs over the span of 1 year (March 2025 until March 2026) – carefully designed with quality lectures, tutorials and practical sessions. The fourth season of the mentoring programme features Lok Shi Hoong, Adelia Khalid, Yanu, Hanna Lee, and Yuthes Umadevi Navarithinam who were selected through a competitive interview process to be part of the 2025 TYBE cohort.

ABOUT EJKLS SENI
EJKLS Seni is a self-funded, social-oriented, community-based arts collective with the aim to provide an inclusive safe-space for arts practitioners in Malaysia to create and present original artistic works with social relevance. We champion adult-oriented contents, original artwork, and social commentaries in our creative projects; aside from strongly advocating for accessibility towards arts and arts education. Our collective originated as a theatre-based group, and over the years have ventured into other forms of arts, including poetry, music, dance, and visual arts, with the aim to bridge in the gaps between the different scenes in the arts community. To date, EJKLS Seni has produced multiple events, ranging from theatre productions, multidisciplinary arts events, poetry events, and music events. And over the years, our collective has also run multiple social initiatives for the local creative community, including the Young Blood Experiment (TYBE), the Open Door Project, Arts Accessibility Programme (AAP), Creators’ Lab, and the Actors’ Safe Stage Initiative.
EJKLS Seni is based at pangkin@ejklsseni, our safe space, our lepak spot, our little rendezvous, located in Wangsa Maju.
