Inside TUTAN Skyline, Kuala Lumpur’s New Live Music Space

Published on 02/10/2026

A new space for intimate live music has opened in Kuala Lumpur. CloudJoi joined the launch of TUTAN Skyline, where First Light introduced audiences to the venue and the range of music it hopes to bring together.

From Dvořák to BTS in one programme

Held from 25 to 27 September 2026, First Light was performed by the TUTAN Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Kevin Field. The programme moved between classical and contemporary music, opera, film scores and popular songs, bringing familiar favourites alongside music audiences might be discovering for the first time.

Works by Dvořák, Puccini, Max Richter, Ólafur Arnalds, Arvo Pärt and John Williams shared the programme with music made famous by Teresa Teng and BTS. It was an introduction to TUTAN’s approach: giving audiences room to explore different musical styles within a single performance.

A closer seat to the music

First Light was designed around the intimacy of the new venue, with a smaller ensemble and audiences seated close to the musicians. TUTAN describes the space’s acoustics as helping the natural sound and detail of the instruments come through clearly.

Part of TUTAN Skyline's appeal is the possibility of bringing different musical worlds into one space. As the CEO put it, "You could hear Dvorak, Jone Williams, Teresa Teng and BTS in the same performance and discover that these different musical worlds don't have to feel so far apart. It's an inviting idea: come for the music you know, and leave with an appreciation for something unexpected. By making room for classical works, film scores and familiar pop favourites, the venue offers audiences more ways to connect with live music.

Room for more than concerts

Located on Level 21 of ICON Tower East on Jalan Tun Razak, TUTAN Skyline is designed to accommodate rehearsals, recordings, talks and workshops, as well as launches, private events and collaborative projects. Artists, organisations and creative partners can also use the venue for their own work.

The space gives TUTAN Entertainment a permanent home for smaller performances while the company continues presenting larger productions elsewhere. Its wider calendar includes Symphonic Rock 3, running from 13 to 15 November 2026 at PJPAC, 1 Utama.

First Light has wrapped up, but there is more to come at TUTAN Skyline. Browse upcoming events on CloudJoi, or follow TUTAN Entertainment for new programme announcements.
