About

A cardboard box is not just waste waiting to be recycled. It awaits your imagination to fill it, to transform it into a world of audio-visual magic.

Created in 1989 by Denise Santos and Ismine Lima, Lambe Lambe Theatre are shows represented inside a closed box, with a peephole for spectators to spy through and see the work unfolding from within. Each performance is for one person at a time, lasting generally between two and five minutes, offering a one-of-a-kind intimate experience.

In this four-day workshop, participants will create their very own Lambe Lambe Theatre show prototype, with guidance from performer and puppeteer Omayra Martínez Garzón.

Throughout the four sessions, participants will work on their very own Lambe Lambe box, stage set, characters, objects and soundscapes. This is an invaluable hands-on opportunity to unleash your creativity, experience a unique artform and uncover the unlimited possibilities that lie in the audiovisual.

*This workshop is recommended for visual artists, puppeteers who wish to gain knowledge and theatre-makers who wish to seek distinct ways of empowerment and explore puppeteering. Anyone highly interested in puppet arts is also welcome.
